Turkish aid agency builds playground in Colombia

By Zuhal Demirci

ANKARA (AA) – The Turkish government’s development aid agency has established a playground in Colombia’s city of Medellin in the northwestern region of Antioquia.

In a statement released Monday, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) said the playground built in the Villa Suramericana neighborhood was part of a larger project meant to reduce social inequalities in the country.

“The playground was established in a neighborhood where 500 families live. We want to preserve young children from any context that can lead them to illegal activities,” the TIKA statement read.

Established in 1992, TIKA is responsible for implementing Turkey’s developmental cooperation policies overseas.
