By Afiye Yildiz Unal</p> <p>ANKARA (AA) – Ban on flights to Iraq's Sulaymaniyah will be lifted on Friday, Turkey’s transport and infrastructure minister said on Wednesday. </p> <p>"Turkish Airlines will resume its flights from Istanbul to Sulaymaniyah, seven flights a weeks," Cahit Turhan told Anadolu Agency.
All international flights into the Kurdish region was suspended as of 6 p.m. local time Sept. 29, 2017 within the scope of notam announced by Iraqi central government.
The flight ban came into effect as a response by the Iraqi government to September 2017 illegitimate referendum on Kurdish regional independence.
