By Mustafa Yildirim

AFRIN, Syria (AA) – Turkish police and gendarmerie special forces discovered a training area belonging to YPG/PKK terrorists in a village in Afrin region, which was recently liberated during the Turkey-led Operation Olive Branch.

The training field was found when Turkish forces, together with Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters, were clearing the Darth Obasi village.

The field was later destroyed by security forces.

Some caves used by terrorists, together with food supplies, military camouflages, and blankets — were also discovered during the search efforts.

Security forces also seized scores of weapons, rocket launchers, munitions, mines and improvised explosive devices.

Turkey on Jan. 20 launched Operation Olive Branch to remove YPG/PKK and Daesh terrorists from Afrin. On March 18, Turkish troops and Free Syrian Army liberated the Afrin district center.

According to the Turkish General Staff, the operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkey’s borders and the region as well as to protect Syrians from the oppression and cruelty of terrorists.

Police and gendarmerie special forces support the Operation Olive Branch in rural areas of northwestern Afrin.
