ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s state-run aid agency established a water treatment plant in southwestern Ukraine in an effort to resolve potable water issue.

In a statement, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) said on Monday the water treatment plant was established in Vinogradovka village of southwestern Bolgrad city, mainly populated by Gokoguz-Gagauz Turks.

The opening ceremony was attended by TIKA Program Coordinator for Ukraine Haci Bayram Bolat, Odessa Deputy Parliamentary Speaker Yuriy Dimchoglo, the village head Yuri Kochmar and residents of the village.

Speaking at the ceremony, Bolat said the plant would stop human migration from the village.

He also voiced hope for increased living conditions in Vinogradovka.

Kochmar, for his part, expressed gratitude to TIKA and Turkish people for dealing with the problems of Gokoguz-Gagauz Turks.
