Luka Modric wins The Best FIFA Men's Player 2018 award

ANKARA (AA) – Real Madrid's Croatian midfielder Luka Modric on Monday won The Best FIFA Men's Player 2018 award, becoming the first player from his country to get the award.

The award ceremony, which was held in London's Royal Festival Hall on Monday evening, was hosted by famous British actor Idris Elba.

The governing body of the world football, FIFA, honored players with awards in several categories such as The Best Goalkeeper, The Best Coach and The FIFA Fair Play Award.

Liverpool's Egyptian sensation Mohammed Salah was awarded with the FIFA Puskas Award, the best goal of the year.

World Cup champions France's manager Didier Deschamps bagged The Best FIFA Men's Coach.

Belgium's and Real Madrid's goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois won The Best FIFA Goalkeeper award.

The FIFA Fair Play award for 2018 was given to German footballer Lennart Thy, who played for VVV-Venlo last season but missed the game against PSV Eindhoven to donate stem cells to a leukemia patient.

FIFA also announced the FIFA FIFPro World 11: David de Gea, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Dani Alves, Marcelo, Luka Modric, N'Golo Kante, Eden Hazard, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo.
