Jewish settlers torch Palestinian property in West Bank

By Qais Abu Samra

NABLUS, Palestine (AA) – Jewish settlers on Friday torched a Palestinian home and a tract of farmland in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, according to a Palestinian official.

“Settlers from the [Jewish-only] Yesh Kodesh settlement attacked several homes in the Khallet al-Wusta area near the West Bank city of Nablus,” he said.

Ghassan Douglas, a Palestine Liberation Organization official, told Anadolu Agency that settlers had torched the home of an Arab-Israeli and destroyed another home owned by a Palestinian resident of the village.

Settlers, he added, had also destroyed “dozens” of trees in the area.

According to Douglas, settlers fired randomly at local residents who tried to prevent them from inflicting more damage.

No injuries, however, have been reported.

Roughly 39,000 Jewish settlers live near Nablus in 40 different settlements and outposts from which they occasionally carry out acts of vandalism and attack local Palestinians and their property.
