Italy: 47 irregular migrants to be divided among EU

By Senhan Bolelli</p> <p><br> MADRID (AA) – Forty-seven irregular migrants rescued from a rubber boat by the Sea Watch charity organization was allowed to go ashore Wednesday, according to Italian government. <br> <br> The government announced the migrants who have been kept on board for 12 days on the coast of Sicily will be landed on the condition they will be divided among EU countries. </p> <p>Italian Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte told reporters in Milan the migrants will be allowed to come ashore &quot;in the coming hours.&quot; <br> <br> Irregular migrants will be divided into seven EU countries — Italy, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Portugal, Romania and Malt – said Conte. <br> <br> Italy’s coalition government consisting of the ultra-right wing League party formed in June 2018 and anti-system left wing Five Star Movement is urging EU for a common solution to the immigration problem in the Mediterranean. <br> <br> Known with his anti-immigrant views, Leader of the League Party and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini allows migrants to land only on the condition they are shared among EU countries. </p> <p>
