ERZURUM, Turkey (AA) – A total of 290 YPG/PKK terrorists who targeted civilians, including children, in their bid to disrupt peace in Turkey have been neutralized as part of anti-terror operations across the country and abroad in July.

Turkish Armed Forces, Security General Directorate, General Command of Gendarmerie and National Intelligence Service resolutely continue to chase terrorist organizations that try to disturb peace and brotherhood in the country.

According to information compiled by Anadolu Agency, five security officers were martyred during the attacks of YPG/PKK between July 1 and July 31.

During the attacks, five civilians, including 11-month-old baby were killed and five soldiers were injured.

A total of 30 people, including officials from Peoples' Democratic Party’s (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP), were remanded in custody as part of operations across Turkey.

Security forces also destroyed shelters and depots of terrorists, mainly in Turkey's eastern and southeastern provinces.

– Terrorists neutralized

Gazi Bahadir, codenamed Roni, was neutralized on July 1 in Beytussebap district of southeastern Sirnak province.

Interior Ministry announced that Serkan Tan, codenamed Serdar, who was on the wanted terrorist list in the green category, was neutralized on July 8. The terrorist was said to be “responsible for public relations and finance in Van province “.

Yunus Dalgin, codenamed Mervan, who was named under the wanted terrorist list's grey category, was neutralized in Nazimiye district of eastern Tunceli province on July 10.

Sefer Acar, terrorist named in the top red coded wanted list, was among terrorists who were neutralized in an operation in eastern Bitlis province. Acar was the perpetrator of the PKK attack in northern Iraq on a gendarmerie helicopter which martyred 15 Turkish soldiers.

Hasan Cakmak, who was also known by his code name Delil Karakocan, was one of the three terrorists killed in the airstrikes in northern Iraq on July 13. Cakmak was the logistics coordinator of the PKK.

A suspect identified by the initials C.C., the terrorist PKK’s so-called top representative in Scandinavia and wanted under Interpol red notices, was captured in Denmark.

– Terrorists to pay price

Mehmet Yakisir, codenamed Zeynel, the terrorist group’s top member in the Black Sea region, was killed on July 15.

Yakisir, who was in the red category of Turkey’s wanted list, had killed 15-year-old Eren Bulbul last August in Macka in the Black Sea province of Trabzon.

During the last month-and-a-half, four terrorists, on the wanted terrorist list in the red and grey category, were killed.

Aram Civan codenamed Osman Gulen — who was neutralized on July 23 in southeastern Diyarbakir — was found to be mentioned in the grey category of the Interior Ministry’s wanted list.

Two suspected PKK terrorists, who murdered poll observer Mevlut Bengi in the aftermath of last month's Turkish election, were killed in Dogubeyazit district of Agri on July 27.

Turkish Armed Forces also continues with air operations in northern Iraq regions of Hakurk, Gara, Metina, Zap, Qandil and Avasin.

Around 300 terrorists were killed in northern Iraq in the last month and their shelters, positions and ammunition depots were destroyed.

– A father and son were killed by PKK terrorists in Lice district of Diyarbakir on July 5.

– A soldier was martyred in a clash between terrorists and security forces in Guce district of Giresun province on July 9.

– A village guard was martyred and another one injured during an operation against PKK in Silvan district of Diyarbakir on July 13.

– A village guard was martyred, and a village guard and two soldiers were slightly injured in an attack carried out by PKK terrorists in Semdinli district of Hakkar on July 22.

– A machine operator was martyred in a bomb attack in eastern Igdir province on July 28.

– An 11-month-old baby Bedirhan Karakaya and his mother Nurcan Karakaya were martyred in a roadside bombing by the PKK terrorist organization in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province on July 31.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
