Egyptian defense minister meets with Greek counterpart

CAIRO (AA) – Egyptian Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi met with Greek counterpart Panos Kammenos on Thursday to discuss regional developments and means of enhancing bilateral military cooperation.

Sobhi met Kammenos and an accompanying delegation at Defense Ministry headquarters in Cairo.

According to a ministry statement issued after the meeting, the two sides discussed “issues of common concern in light of recent regional developments and the prospects for enhanced military cooperation”.

In the statement, Sobhi praised the “high degree of consultation between our two countries in the military and security arenas”.

Kammenos, for his part, said that Egypt and Greece “share the same point-of-view regarding the many challenges to international peace and security”.

The Greek defense minister also stressed his country's keenness to step up cooperation with Egypt, especially in the defense field.
