'Works carried out to determine damage after Elazig earthquake'

ANKARA (AA) – After a 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Turkey's eastern Elazig province, the country's relevant institutions and organizations carry out works to determine the damage, the Turkish parliament speaker said late Friday.

"I wish all our citizens who were affected by the earthquake centered Elazig/Sivrice a speedy recovery," Mustafa Sentop said on Twitter.

"Our biggest wish is that the death toll does not rise," he added.

A 6.8-magnitude earthquake Friday jolted eastern Turkish province of Elazig, killing six people, injuring more than 200 others, according to initial reports of official sources.
