KIEV, Ukraine (AA) – Over 3,900 new cases of the novel coronavirus and more than 80 fatalities were reported across several Eurasian and Central Asian countries on Sunday.
– Ukraine
Ukraine continues to report the highest numbers in the region, with 2,476 more COVID-19 cases and 30 deaths recorded over the past 24 hours.
The overall case count in the country stands at 154,335, including 3,178 fatalities and 68,893 recoveries, which increased by 547 over the past day, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.
– Georgia
In Georgia, 152 more coronavirus cases raised the total to 2,268.
Recoveries increased by six to reach 1,369, while the death toll remains at 19.
– Uzbekistan
A total of 321 more infections were confirmed in Uzbekistan, bringing the total to 47,042, the Health Ministry said.
Two more fatalities were reported over the past day, moving the death toll up to 388.
Recoveries increased by 152 to reach 43,511, which translates to a recovery rate of about 93%, the ministry said.
Some 3,143 patients are under treatment in the country, with around 100,000 more being monitored.
– Armenia
Armenia's tally increased to 45,862 as 187 more cases were confirmed over the past 24 hours.
The virus claimed five more lives in the country, raising the death toll to 916, the Health Ministry said.
Some 41,659 people have recovered so far, while over 3,000 patients are under treatment.
– Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan's case count rose by 74 to reach 106,803.
According to the Health Ministry, five patients died over the past day, taking the death toll to 1,667, while 97 more recoveries raised the total to 100,615.
– Kyrgyzstan
In Kyrgyzstan, 53 more COVID-19 cases raised the overall count to 44,881.
The Health Ministry said 40,922 people have recovered so far, while the death toll stands at 1,063, with no fatalities reported over the past day.
Over 2,500 patients are receiving treatment in the country.
Across the world, COVID-19 has claimed more than 920,500 lives in 188 countries and regions since last December. The US, India and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries.
Over 28.77 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 19.46 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
