Amber Guyger, who is white, killed Bothan Jean, who is black, and was charged Sept. 9, three days after the shooting, and released on a $300,000 bond.

"An Internal Affairs investigation concluded that on September 9, 2018, Officer Guyger, #10701, engaged in adverse conduct when she was arrested for Manslaughter," the Dallas Police Department said in a statement concerning Guyger's termination.

According to her affidavit, Guyger returned home after a 15-hour shift, and while still uniform, went to the wrong floor of her apartment complex.

She entered Jean’s apartment and after what she said she mistook him for a burglar opened fire and shot him twice.

Jean died after being transported to the hospital.

The police department said Guyger would be able to appeal the termination decision.
