UPDATE – Over 400 kilograms of heroin seized in eastern Turkey

VAN, Turkey (AA) – A total of 438 kilograms (965 pounds) of heroin was seized in Turkey's eastern Van province on Monday, according to Van police headquarters statement.

The heroin was impounded in Ozalp district when a van was stopped over suspicion, the statement said.

It said security forces seized 404 kg (890 lb.) of the heroin in liquid form in plastic cans and 33 kg (72 lb.) of solidified heroin in 33 sachets.

Two suspected drug traffickers were arrested, the statement added.

The amount of heroin seized across Turkey in a week rose to 1,310 kg (2888 lb.).

In first seven months of 2018, a total of 10 tons of heroin was seized across Turkey, Interior Ministry had said on Sunday.
