UPDATE – One soldier martyred in SE Turkey

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) – One soldier was martyred and 23 people injured in a car bomb attack that hit a gendarmerie headquarters in the southeastern Diyarbakir province’s Dicle district late Sunday, the Turkish army confirmed.

According to the Turkish General Staff statement issued Monday, at least 23 people, including three civilians, were injured. The statement said that all injured were transferred to several Diyarbakir hospitals.

The car bomb struck the entrance of guest houses for government employees on Sunday at 9.40 p.m. (1840GMT) in Diyarbakir’s Dicle district, the statement added.

The Turkish army also extended their condolences to the family of the martyred soldier.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s Supreme Board of Radio and Television has imposed a media ban.

According to a statement issued by the Board, the ban includes live broadcasts from the blast site, footage of the blast and its aftermath.

Security forces who headed to the Dicle district after the blast reportedly came under attack.
