JERUSALEM (AA) – Three Israelis have reportedly gone missing in Jordan amid heavy floods in the Arab country, according to the Israeli Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

In a statement, the ministry said it had lost communication with the three during their visit to Wadi Rum in southern Jordan.

The ministry said it is on communication with local authorities in Jordan to ensure the safety of the three Israelis.

The Jordanian government, for its part, said authorities have found four Israelis, who had lost communication with their families following the floods.

“Information about two other missing Israelis is not yet confirmed,” government spokeswoman Jumana Ghunaimat was quoted as saying by the official Petra news agency.

At least 12 people have been killed since the flash floods ravaged several areas in Jordan on Friday.

Last month, at least 21 people were killed in a rash of severe flash flooding in Jordan’s western Dead Sea region.
