UK's COVID-19 death toll passes grim mark of 100,000

LONDON (AA) – The UK’s death toll from the novel coronavirus has passed a grim mark on Tuesday, making it the fifth country to have passed 100,000.


With a total of 100,162 fatalities, the UK follows the US, Brazil, India and Mexico.


The five countries saw half of the global death toll of 2.1 million.


The UK authorities reported a staggering 1,631 new fatalities today, and the number is one of the highest-ever single day rises in fatalities in the country.
