UK military official leaves Oman after days-long visit

ANKARA (AA) – U.K. Minister of State for the Armed Forces Mark Lancaster wrapped up a days-long visit to Omani capital Muscat on Friday, according to the Omani News Agency (ONA).

Upon his departure, a number of high-level Omani officials saw Lancaster off at the Muscat International Airport, ONA reported.

On Thursday, ONA reported that Lancaster had held a closed-door meeting with Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib al-Busaidi, Oman’s minister responsible for defense affairs.

According to the news agency, the two men discussed means of enhancing military cooperation and “issues of common concern”.

Later this month, the British and Omani armed forces will jointly conduct two major military exercises (Al-Shomoukh 2 and Saif Sareea 3).
