Turkish stocks end day with gains

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index surged 0.32 percent to close at 94,747.53 points on Thursday.

Starting the day at 93,924.67 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index recorded a 306.84-point hike from Wednesday's close of 94,440.69 points.

As of daily close, the USD/TRY exchange rate stood at 5.9930, down from 6.0380 at the previous close.

The euro/lira rate fell to 6.9350, versus 6.9580 at Wednesday's close, and the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.9370 while one British pound exchanged for 7.9760 Turkish liras at the previous close.

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,202.60 at Thursday's close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, while the price was $1,187.00 at the previous close.

The price of Brent oil was around $81.25 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), hovering between $81.15 and $82.71 during Thursday's trading.

Since the beginning of this year, Brent oil price has risen from $66 a barrel.
