Turkish foreign minister meets Japanese princess

ANKARA (AA) – Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Monday received Japanese Princess Akiko of Mikasa in capital Ankara.

They held a closed-door meeting at the official residence of the Turkish foreign minister.

Prior to the meeting, Akiko left a wreath at Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Turkish Republic.

She then visited the Kalehoyuk archaeological site in the central province of Kirsehir, as well as the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology, the Japanese Garden and the Kalehoyuk Museum of Archaeology.

She is in Turkey till Sept. 14.
