Turkish FM meets Turkmen president in Ashgabat

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan (AA) – Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu was received by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the capital city of Ashgabat on Friday.

Speaking after the meeting, Cavusoglu thanked Berdimuhamedov for his support to Turkish companies he gave in Turkmenistan.

Berdimuhamedov said he would continue his support to Turkish firms during the meeting, Cavusoglu said.

Cavusoglu also expressed his pleasure over being in Ashgabat after 3 years.

The foreign minister arrived in the country, the last stop on his Asia tour, for a two-day official visit.

Cavusoglu will also have meetings with Rashid Meredov, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

He will deliver a speech on “Turkish Foreign Policy/Humanitarian Diplomacy” at the Institute of International Relations of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

“We are in Ashgabat, capital of friendly and brotherly #Turkmenistan, for the last stop of our Asia tour, ” the minister said in a post on his Twitter account.
