ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) has opened a new representation office in Russia as part of its target of having offices in 100 countries by the end of this year.

According to a statement by MUSIAD on Friday, the number of the association's contact points reached 210 in 80 countries.

Ibrahim Uyar, head of MUSIAD's foreign organization and development commission, said the new office has a strategic importance.

Uyar said the trade volume between the two countries falls short of their potential.

The trade volume between Turkey and Russia rose 37.2 percent year-on-year to reach $21.6 billion in 2017.

“The representation office opened in Moscow will provide significant contributions to the development of trade relations between the two countries, ” Uyar added.
