HATAY, Turkey (AA) – Twenty-five ambulances, donated by the Turkish aid organization Biz Ummetiz (We are Ummah), were sent to Syria on Thursday from Turkey’s southern province Hatay.
Ambulances, gathered by the Biz Ummetiz platform with the contribution of 50 different NGOs, were donated in the presence of Wajih Juma, the health minister in Syria’s interim government, which was designated by opposition group the Syrian National Coalition and is based in Gaziantep, Turkey.
Juma told Anadolu Agency that the ambulances would be provided to hospitals and civil defense units.
Stating that medical equipments were crucial for Syria Juma said: “The massacres are continuing in Syria. Turkey always supported us on every issue. While some are killing Syrian people, the Turkish state and Turkish benefactors are trying to keep us alive. May God be pleased with them.”
Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since early 2011, when the regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests.
