ISTANBUL (AA) – A Turkish aid group on Saturday dispatched aid for 11,900 victims in disaster-hit Indonesia.

On Sept. 28, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Sulawesi Island, which triggered a tsunami that towered up to 10 feet (3 meters) high. So far, at least 1,649 ğeople have been killed, according to disaster management authorities.

The Istanbul-based Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) said in a statement that its team had rushed to the country soon after the earthquake and delivered emergency aid to the people affected by the disaster in Palu, Dongala and Makassar.

The aid group also delivered fresh meals to 400 people and shelter to 500.

IHH was one of the first aid organizations in Turkey to reach the victims immediately after the earthquake and tsunami hit the island in Indonesia.

The charity foundation said a second aid team would set off Saturday.
