Turkish Airlines: Passenger numbers rise 8.6% in 2016

ISTANBUL (AA) – The number of passengers traveling with Turkey’s flagship carrier Turkish Airlines rose by 8.6 percent in the first four months of the year compared to the same period in 2015, according to the company.

Turkish Airlines said in a regulatory filing Monday that the number of passengers flying with Turkish Airlines was 19.3 million for the January-April 2016 period, up from 17.8 million for the first four months of 2015.

The statement added that the number of passengers on domestic flights rose by 10.8 percent while the number of passengers on international flights rose by 7 percent.

During the same period, the number of landings by Turkish Airlines passenger planes rose by 8.9 percent to 146,424, from 134,455 in in the first four months of 2015.

The statement also added that the number of company’s wide-body aircraft increased from 62 to 79, the number of narrow-body aircraft from 202 to 224, and the number of cargo aircraft from 10 to 11.
