Turkey's daily power consumption up 18.69% on Jan. 6

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 18.69% to 884,991 megawatt-hours on Monday, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 18.00 local time with 43,443 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest point of 27,004 megawatt-hours at 05.00.

Total electricity production reached 884,991 megawatt-hours on Monday, with a 19.07% increase compared to the previous day.

The majority of the output came from natural gas plants with 207,271 megawatt-hours.

Imported coal plants and hydroelectricity followed with 190,060 megawatt-hours and 171,927 megawatt-hours, respectively.

On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 6,988 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 8,691 megawatt-hours.
