Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up over 1% at opening

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 1.01% or 978.34 points to open at 97,956.66 points on Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped by 1.83% to close the day at 96,978.32 points with a daily trading volume of 5.97 billion Turkish liras ($1.05 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.6610 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to Monday's closing rate of 5.6930.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also fell to 6.3760, versus 6.4190 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 7.3960 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.4290 at market close on Monday.

The price of Brent oil was around $71.00 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday.
