Turkey's Borsa Istanbul ends day with gains

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index went up 0.83 percent to close at 96,952.23 points on Tuesday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the day with a 794.49-point hike from Monday's close of 96,157.74 points, while it started the day at 95,942.24 points.

One U.S. dollar traded for 4.9110 Turkish liras as of 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT), up from 4.8850 at Monday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate was 5.7510 by market close, versus 5.7200 at the previous close, and one British pound traded for 6.4570 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 6.4290 at Monday's close.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold traded for $1,220 as of 4.30 p.m. local time (1330GMT) Tuesday, down from $1,223 at the previous close.

As of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), the price of Brent oil stood at $74.69 per barrel — hovering between $74.39 and $75.62 during the day — climbing from around $66 at the beginning of 2018.
