AGRI, Turkey (AA) – An improvised explosive device planted by PKK terrorists injured a Turkish soldier on Thursday afternoon in the eastern Agri province.

According to information gathered by military sources, the gendarmerie special sergeant was injured during a security search in rural Yukari Demirkapi area.

He was rushed to the state hospital and his condition is stable.

In a separate operation in Diyarbakir province, five improvised explosive devices were neutralized in different areas.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.
