ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey and Slovakia have agreed to improve their cooperation in cultural matters.

Turkey’s Culture Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and his Slovakian counterpart Lubica Lassakova signed a memorandum of understanding, or MoU, on Monday to hold a series of cultural events between 2019 and 2023.

The deal was signed on the sidelines of the 3rd UN World Tourism Organization/UNESCO World Conference on Tourism and Culture in Istanbul.

“I am very pleased to sign this memorandum of understanding, which I believe will contribute to our current cultural relations,” Ersoy said addressing the event.

Ersoy said that the MoU will strengthen bonds between Turkish and Slovakian people and will provide a solid basis for the mutual culture and arts activities.

The agreement involves cooperation among cultural institutions of the two countries in the fields of cinema, cultural heritage as well as festivals.

The Istanbul conference is held between Dec. 3 and Dec. 5 in Istanbul to promote tourism development and encourage cultural interaction, UN World Tourism Organization said.
