Turkey: Rate of age 20-24 in school tops OECD average

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's education minister said on Tuesday that the rate of the nation's population age 20-24 in school tops the OECD average.

“According to the OECD's Education at a Glance 2018 report, the schooling rate of the population between age 20 and 24 reached 52 percent, far above the OECD average, ” said Ziya Selcuk, responding to a parliamentary question.

Selcuk said the OECD average was 42 percent.

Separately, according to a new report by the Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation, the schooling rate of girls in Turkey has also risen sharply.

The report said the schooling rate of girls in higher education rose from 18.7 percent in 2007 to 41.1 percent in 2015.
