Turkey: Hospital nurseries to open despite lockdown

By Ferdi Turkten

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey has announced to keep nurseries at health facilities open during lockdown to assist health care workers with children.

A circular issued by the Health Ministry on Thursday said measures to protect against the coronavirus will be taken at the daycare facilities.

However, provincial public health councils will be able to take decisions on caregivers for children of health care workers.

In cases where there is no nursery or caregivers are available and if both spouses are health care workers of the ministry, work shifts will be arranged in a manner that children are not left unattended.

Turkey announced a full lockdown from Thursday evening until May 17 to stem the spread of COVID-19.
