ANKARA (AA) – All cycling competitions to be held in Turkey until June have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Turkish Cycling Federation announced on Monday.
"All scheduled activities until June 6 are postponed to a later date because of the coronavirus pandemic. New racing calendar will be announced later," the federation said in a statement.
The announcement means there will be no cycling competitions in Turkey until the Central Anatolia MTB Cup, which is scheduled to start in the central Kayseri province on June 6.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Turkey has risen to nearly 57,000, while the death toll is almost 1,200.
A total of 4,789 new cases were reported on Sunday, bringing the overall count to 56,956, and 97 more fatalities raised the death toll to 1,198.
According to Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, 3,446 COVID-19 patients have recovered in Turkey so far, while 1,665 patients remain in intensive care as of Sunday.
