‘Turkey can support Pakistan in irrigation investments’

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey can provide technical support to Pakistan for irrigation investments, Turkey’s agriculture and forestry minister said on Friday.

Bekir Pakdemirli's remarks came during his meeting with Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is in the capital Ankara on his first official visit to Turkey since taking office in August.

Pakdemirli stressed that Turkey can cooperate with brotherly and friendly country Pakistan in every field of agriculture.

“We [Turkey] are ranked 7th in the world in agricultural output. We are particularly good at technical knowledge and technology, ” Pakdemirli added.

Khan, for his part, said that Pakistan has great potential in terms of agriculture and livestock.

Pakistan seeks support from Turkey especially on irrigation, food processing, halal meat and agricultural productivity, he added.

Khan also said it was important that the good bilateral relations between the two countries are reflected in the field of agriculture.
