Underlining that this year's winners had been chosen in discussions with members of the media from throughout the country, Burhan said the award ceremony would be held in a democratic and pluralistic manner with accolades to be presented to poets, authors and scientists along with the radio, television, press and internet media

On Altun's award, Burhan said the communications director "manifests the indigenous and national understanding of media." "He successfully represents Turkey both in the country, as well as abroad."
