KHARTOUM (AA) – Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Thursday received Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, who is in Khartoum for a one-day visit.

Al-Sisi was received by al-Bashir and a number of top Sudanese officials at Khartoum’s international airport.

The two leaders are expected to hold talks at Khartoum’s presidential palace to discuss regional and international developments and sign a host of trade and economy-related agreements.

On Wednesday, a joint Sudan-Egypt ministerial committee approved 12 cooperation agreements to be signed today by the two presidents.

Last year, Sudan-Egypt relations soured slightly due to ongoing differences between the two sides, especially in regards to the security situation in Libya.

Relations have picked up since March, however, when al-Bashir visited Cairo. In June, al-Sisi reciprocated by paying a visit to Khartoum.
