KHARTOUM, Sudan (AA) – President Omer Al-Bashir on Sunday evening dissolved the government of the National Unity, according to the Sudan news agency, SUNA.

The agency reported that Bashir informed the high coordination committee of the national dialogue that he had dissolved the government.

“President Bashir has informed the high coordination committee of the national dialogue that he dissolved the government at the presidential and ministerial levels,” it said.

The report attributed the decision to the economic difficulties that faced the government, adding the ministries will be decreased from 31 to 21.

“The decision is part of austerity measures to overcome the economic difficulties that face the Sudanese nation,” it said.

Sudan's economic crisis has deepened since January 2018.

The government of the National Unity was established in 2015 after the general elections in the country.
