ANKARA (AA) – Singapore is set to lift anti-COVID-19 restrictions, known as "circuit breaker", from Tuesday as city-state witnesses further rise in the number of infections.
The government said in a statement that more activities and services will resume after the circuit breaker is lifted from Tuesday.
But the government has made use of masks mandatory for people outside their homes.
Health authorities reported 408 more cases of COVID-19, with all of them Work Pass holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.
After today’s new cases, Singapore has reported 35,292 coronavirus cases in total, with 23 fatalities due to the infection.
Singapore imposed restrictions early April to stem the spread of the disease, while the authorities granted some relaxations early May.
The country with a population of 5.85 million, boasting a vibrant economy and health care system, has witnessed massive cases among foreign workers.
Over 1.6 million foreigners are residing in Singapore, of whom nearly 41% hold work permits.
Authorities have insisted on people to observe social distancing measures and avoid going out during peak hours.
