NOUAKCHOTT (AA) – At least 11 people were killed in a road accident in central Mauritania on Wednesday, according to local media.

Scores of people were reportedly injured when two vehicles collided near the city of Agchorguitt, the media said.

A number of Malians and Nigerians were among those injured in the accident.

Dozens of people die monthly in accidents in Mauritania, which critics largely blame on antiquated infrastructure.
