Red Cross sends 45 aid trucks to Syria

By Bayram Altug

GENEVA (AA) – International Committee of the Red Cross Spokeswoman Krista Armstrong said 45 aid trucks were sent to Syria’s western city of Homs.

“We are bringing foods and supplies to 84,000 people,” Armstrong told Anadolu Agency on Monday.

She said the trucks were dispatched to Tel Bisi, a northern town of Homs.
Armstrong said the Red Cross also delivered “equipment to repair water system and cementation system”.

The Geneva-based humanitarian aid organization will also deliver aid to Syria “tomorrow and the day after,” Armstrong said without specifying the location.

Syria has suffered massive losses over the last five years since Bashar al-Assad’s regime violently suppressed pro-democracy protests against his rule, unleashing a downward spiral of violence that killed hundreds of thousands of victims and displaced millions.
