Putin hails Russian-Indian strategic partnership

MOSCOW (AA) – The military-technical cooperation between Moscow and New Delhi includes joint production of modern military products, apart from supplying weapons to India, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

Speaking at a news conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Putin said: “Our countries have developed genuinely close and mutually beneficial relations that are part and parcel of the Russian-Indian strategic partnership, ” according to the statement by Kremlin.

The number of agreements were signed in different areas to enhance relations between Russia and India.

Putin remarks came after a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India.

“Promoting cooperation in energy was a topic the prime minister and I focused on, ” Putin said, adding: “Russia welcomed Indian energy companies’ interest in expanding their operations in Russia. ”

Highlighting the discussion on the Russian-built Kudankulam nuclear power plant in India, Putin said the two countries agreed that 12 nuclear power plant units will be built in India in 20 years using advanced Russian technologies.

Also, Russia would help India in space exploration, he added.
