ANKARA (AA) – A Premier League clash between Manchester City and Everton has been delayed due to multiple coronavirus cases in the away team.

“Manchester City lodged a request with the Premier League today to rearrange the match following an increase in positive COVID-19 test results received by the club this morning, on top of the cases reported on Christmas Day,” the Premier League said in a statement on Monday.

“This rise has created uncertainty and the Premier League Board received medical advice that the match should be postponed.”

Further testing of the players will be done tomorrow, the league added.

Manchester City had previously announced that Gabriel Jesus, Kyle Walker, and two club staffers had contracted the novel virus.

The game was scheduled to be played at Goodison Park.
