Palestinian worker dies in Israeli police chase

By Qais Abu Samra

RAMALLAH (AA) – A Palestinian worker has died while being chased by Israeli police in northern Israel, according to the official Wafa news agency on Tuesday.

Mohammed Kamil, from the West Bank city of Jenin, lost his life after falling down from the roof of a building in the town of Araba al-Batuf in northern Israel, Wafa said.

It remains unclear why the Israeli police were chasing the worker.

There was no comment from Israeli police on the incident.

Tough economic conditions in the occupied West Bank force thousands of Palestinians to seek work in Israel.

Israeli authorities have toughened rules for Palestinians to get work permits, pushing hundreds of Palestinians to illegally enter Israeli territory for work.
