ISTANBUL (AA) – The deputy head of Pakistan’s Jamaat-e-Islami party paid a visit on Monday to the Istanbul offices of Turkey’s premier news agency.

During his visit to Anadolu Agency, Farid Ahmad Piracha said that he came to Turkey to strengthen relations and swap experiences between Turkey and Pakistan, adding that he was glad to visit “such a big organization ” as Anadolu Agency.

Saying that Syed Abul A'la Maududi, the founder of Jamaat-e-Islami, was himself a journalist and a writer, Piracha quoted him as saying that “revealing truth can be considered to be worship. ”

Piracha also said that they are following the latest developments and news from the agency.

He stressed that Anadolu Agency undertook an important task in revealing facts about the defeated July 2016 coup by the Fetullah Terrorist Group (FETO) as well as last month’s killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

During his visit, Piracha was also told about the structure and activities of Anadolu Agency.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016 in Turkey, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Khashoggi, a journalist and columnist for The Washington Post, went missing after entering the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2.

After initially claiming he had left the consulate alive, weeks later the Saudi administration admitted he was killed there, blaming a rogue group of Saudi operatives.
