RIYADH (AA) – More than 11,000 Houthis were killed in Yemen over the last three months, said a Saudi coalition forces spokesperson.
Turki al-Maliki, Saudi coalition spokesman, noted in a Riyadh press conference, that Tuesday’s firing of a ballistic missile targeting that capital did not cause any damage or loss of life. He added that the number of ballistic missiles targeting Saudi Arabia has increased to 83.
“The continuation of such missile attacks means that Iran-Houthi militias have escalated the tension severely, and it shows that weapons smuggling continues through aid channels, ” Maliki said.
He also said that the international community began to realize the Iranian regime’s interventions and its controlling of some terrorist organizations in the world.
“Before the coalition forces started operations in March 2015, Houthis seized 90 percent of the country. Legitimate forces already controlling 85 percent of the territory of Yemen. ”
Spokesman Maliki warned that it will be a graveyard for anyone who violates Saudi Arabia’s borders.
Houthis Tuesday declared that they fired a ballistic missile targeting Riyadh’s Yamama Royal Palace, which houses the office of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
Saudi Arabia also announced that the missile was intercepted before it could cause any damage.
Yemen has remained dogged by violence and chaos since 2014, when Houthi rebels overran much of the country, including the capital Sanaa.
The conflict escalated in 2015 when Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies launched a devastating air campaign aimed at rolling back Houthi military gains.
