Nigeria registers over 130 more coronavirus infections

ANKARA (AA) – Nigeria reported over 130 more coronavirus cases and two fatalities on Friday.

The country’s overall count since March now stands at 56,735, including 1,093 deaths, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said in a daily update.

At least 48,092 patients have recovered from COVID-19 so far, according to the NCDC.

Infections and fatalities have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, the authority added.

With over 18,700 cases, the commercial capital Lagos remains Nigeria’s worst-hit city.

It is followed by the Federal Capital Territory, which includes the capital Abuja, with almost 5,500 cases, and the southwestern Oyo State, where more than 3,200 cases have been confirmed to date.

COVID-19 has claimed over 946,000 lives in 188 countries and regions across the world since last December.

The worldwide case count is now over 30.17 million, with recoveries exceeding 20.52 million, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
