ANKARA (AA) – Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans were dominant over the Houston Rockets as they grabbed the first win of the season with a 131-112 score.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) continued with 11 games on Wednesday evening.

Last season's Western Conference semi-finalists Pelicans started their season with an away victory over league's reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) James Harden and the Rockets.

Davis scored 32 points — grabbed 16 rebounds and assisted 8 times to give his team the win –, Nikola Mirotic scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Julius Randle chipped in 25 points off the bench.

James Harden, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony combined for a total of 46 points for the Rockets, while Eric Gordon was the team's highest scorer with 21 points in a losing effort.

In an Eastern Conference matchup, the Toronto Raptors started their season with a victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Raptors' superstar Kawhi Leonard put up 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Kyle Lowry scored 27 points and dished out 8 assists.

For the Cavs, Kevin Love's 21 points and Cedi Osman's 17 point-10 rebound “double-double ” effort were not enough.
