NATO defense chiefs to meet for second day in Brussels

By Diyar Guldogan</p> <p>ANKARA (AA) – NATO’s highest military authority will hold a second day of meetings Wednesday at the organization’s headquarters in Brussels.</p> <p>Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Guler and other NATO defense chiefs will address a range of topics on day two of the 180th Military Committee Conference.</p> <p>&quot;The second day will focus on Warfare Development, improving Common Funded Capability Delivery, the NATO-Georgia partnership with a particular focus on the progress of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package, concluding with a broad discussion on the Western Balkans and the Kosovo Force Mission,&quot; NATO said in a statement.</p> <p>The defense chiefs on Tuesday discussed NATO’s current and future strategic challenges as well as the Alliance's military strategy and deterrence. </p> <p>They also exchanged views on the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission to train, assist and advise Afghan security forces as well as the regional security situation.</p> <p>On the sidelines of the meeting, Guler is expected to meet his U.S. counterpart Joseph Dunford in the wake of the U.S. decision to withdraw from Syria. </p> <p>The Military Committee meets twice a year at NATO headquarters to discuss the Alliance's operations and missions and provide the North Atlantic Council with consensus-based military advice on how NATO can best meet global security challenges.
