ANKARA (AA) – Spanish MotoGP rider Marc Marquez will undergo surgery on his broken right arm following a heavy crash during the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.

"Sometimes things don't go as you expect but the most important thing is to get back up and move on. I hope you enjoyed the comeback! Now I'll have an operation to fix the fracture of my right humerus. I promise you all that I will come back as soon as possible and even stronger," Marquez said on Twitter.

The reigning world champion crashed hard on the lap 22 and ended the race with four laps to go.

"We'll hopefully see Marc Marquez back on track at the Gran Premio Red Bull de Andalusia on Friday the 24th of July," MotoGP said on its website.
