More than 100 kg of heroin seized in eastern Turkey

VAN, Turkey (AA) – Turkish police on Thursday seized 132 kilograms (291 pounds) of heroin in eastern Van province, police said in a statement.

According to the statement, the police stopped a truck in Gurpinar district on suspicion of illegal drug activity and found 250 packets of heroin.

Two suspected drug traffickers were remanded in custody following the incident, the statement added.

Separately, 965,000 illicit drug pills were seized in southern Adana province, according to a statement by Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Thursday.

The statement said the pills were seized in Adana Sakirpasa Airport, and they were about to be sent to Saudi Arabia via a cargo plane.
