Montenegro beat Turkey in FIBA World Cup qualifiers

ISTANBUL (AA) – Montenegro beat Turkey 71-66 at home in their FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers match on Sunday.

Dogus Balbay and Semih Erden were Turkey’s top scorers with 14 points each while Montenegro's Nikola Ivanovic was their top scorer with 21 points.

Following today's result, Turkey is at second place in Group I with 7 wins and 3 losses after Spain that recorded 8 wins and 2 losses.

In other matches in Group I, Spain beat Ukraine 72-68 at home while Latvia defeated Slovenia 82-77 in an away match.

The top three teams from the group will qualify for the FIBA Basketball 2019 World Cup to be held on Aug. 31-Sept. 15 in China.
